UV Lamp Replacement Guide: Model Matching, Wattage, Base and Length
Learn how to match replacement UVC lamps by model code, wattage, length, tube diameter, base type, pin layout and ballast compatibility.
Replacement UVC lamp matching is a common task for distributors, maintenance companies and end users of UV sterilization systems. The safest way to match a lamp is to compare technical parameters instead of relying only on product appearance.
A correct replacement lamp helps the UV system maintain stable output, proper installation fit and reliable electrical performance.
Do Not Match by Appearance Alone
Two UVC lamps can look almost identical but use different wattage, arc length, base wiring or ballast requirements. If the replacement lamp is not matched correctly, the lamp may fail to start, run at the wrong output, or shorten service life.
Collect the Existing Lamp Information
For an accurate replacement inquiry, collect the lamp code printed on the old tube, total lamp length, glass tube diameter, wattage, base type, pin layout and clear photos of both lamp ends. If possible, also provide the UV equipment brand and ballast label.
When the original part number is unclear, these dimensions allow BIOSUN to narrow down matching options from standard UV-C lamp tubes, replacement UVC lamps and related components.
Check Tube Length and Base Type Carefully
Total length is one of the most important replacement parameters. Even a small difference can affect installation inside the reactor, sterilizer cabinet or air purification module. Base type is equally important because it decides mechanical fit and electrical connection.
Review Ballast and Lamp Power Together
UVC lamps are designed to work with matched electrical output. When replacing a lamp, confirm whether the ballast supports the same lamp power and configuration. For older systems, it may be necessary to review the ballast condition at the same time.
Replacement Parts Beyond the Lamp Tube
Some UV systems also need quartz sleeves, O-rings, lamp holders, caps and connectors during maintenance. Reviewing these parts together can reduce installation delays and shipping costs.
