How to Choose a UV Germicidal Lamp for Water Sterilization
Learn how to choose a UV germicidal lamp by wavelength, wattage, quartz sleeve and ballast matching.
A UV germicidal lamp is usually selected by the sterilizer design, water flow rate, lamp wavelength and electrical matching. For replacement buyers, the old lamp code and dimensions are also important.
Confirm the Wavelength
Most water sterilization systems use 254 nm UV-C lamps because this wavelength is widely used for germicidal applications. Some systems may require 185 nm ozone-generating lamps.
Match Lamp Power and Size
Lamp wattage, total length, tube diameter, arc length and base type should match the UV reactor and ballast.
